Police arrest 2 NPP executives for 'kidnapping' polling station coordinator

Police in Kumasi have arrested two Ejisu constituency executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly kidnapping a polling station coordinator.
Osei Kwaku, according to the police, was last seen in the company of the suspects with four stout men who seized and bundled him into a vehicle.
This was at an ongoing polling station registration exercise at Kokobra in the Ashanti region on Tuesday.
Kwame Adom Boakye, a research and elections officer and George Appiah Kubi, deputy constituency organiser of the NPP in the Region are being questioned about the whereabouts of the officer.
They are reported to have picked the polling station officer to assist them to locate an NPP polling station register.
Osei Kwaku, according to the police, was last seen in the company of the suspects with four stout men who seized and bundled him into a vehicle.
This was at an ongoing polling station registration exercise at Kokobra in the Ashanti region on Tuesday.

Joy News Erastus Asare Donkor reports that Kwabena Agyemang and Osei Kwame of Fomesua Branch of the party lodged a complaint with the police.
According to the two, the polling officer has not been seen since the incident.
The PRO of the police, Juliana Obeng told Joy News “we are looking forward to combing the area for the missing person. We have actually combed the area for the officer from yesterday to Wednesday morning.”
She added that they there are efforts at both the divisional and regional levels but the police have not received any indication that Mr Kwaku has been found.
According to the two, the polling officer has not been seen since the incident.
